Donald Trump has chosen Bo Hines, a former college football player and Republican political candidate, to lead his newly created Crypto Council. Hines will take on the role of executive director for the Presidential Council of Advisers for Digital Assets, an initiative to support the growth of the cryptocurrency industry.

Hines, who played football at NC State and Yale, has an unconventional background for this role, but it combines determination, discipline, and political insight. In 2022, he ran for Congress in North Carolina but lost a close race. Despite the setback, Hines gained attention for his forward-thinking approach and support from pro-crypto organisations.

Trump announced the appointment on Truth Social, expressing confidence in Hines’ ability to foster innovation. Hines will work closely with David Sacks, Trump’s recently appointed crypto and artificial intelligence czar. Together, they’ll focus on creating an environment where the cryptocurrency industry can thrive and grow.
