REVIEW – Another office chair? The search for a comfy seat continues. The last office chair I reviewed was a nice addition with some good features, but another chair has come up with an even larger feature set that I had to try out. The DXracer Martian gaming chair has an impressive design and build quality, so read on to see how it held up during the build and subsequent use!

Design and features
This is an extremely sturdy gaming chair. I chose the fabric model over the leatherette because if I wear shorts, I don’t like it sticking to the back of my legs, so it’s solely personal preference there. The foam padding of the chair is touted as a cold-cure foam, which I hadn’t heard of before, so I looked it up. Basically, it’s a foam that is poured and cures in a mold and results in a higher density foam that is used in furniture. It definitely has a stiff feel to it, but it’s not unpleasant to sit on. One of the biggest surprises to me was that the headrest is magnetic and just sticks wherever you need it. I hadn’t seen that in a chair before.
Assembly
Assembly of this chair definitely took a bit more than the last chair I put together. I was pleased to see that all of the installation instructions were printed on a large piece of cardboard that was part of the packaging.
Installation of the casters and lift are simple and pretty hard to mess up. The wheelbase had some minor damage on a couple of the arms that occurred during shipping, but it doesn’t affect the function and I don’t think that’s anything that the manufacturer could have really avoided given how some of the shipping companies treat packages.
The second step in the install guide was perhaps the most confusing. Perhaps it was a bit too late in the day for me, but I had to redo a couple of the steps because I didn’t pay close enough attention to the order of bolt installation. Study the order and location of all the bolts before you put the electronic control covers on, is all I have to say.
After putting the seat and the back together, connecting the battery up to the different connectors was easy. All of the cables are numbered, so 1 connects to 1, 2 connects to 2, etc. The battery pack itself slides in and locks into place. After everything is connected and in place, it’s all covered by a piece of fabric that snaps into place.
Performance
I really like sitting in this chair. It has just enough give and provides a nice level of support. The lumbar controls are a nice addition. I don’t see myself changing those settings much, so it does feel like it’s a bit over-designed with the large battery pack. That being said, you don’t have to worry much about keeping it charged with that large battery. Just make sure you don’t lose the charging cable!
Final thoughts
Overall, this is a great chair. I’m not a huge gamer, but I don’t doubt that it will hold up great over long gaming sessions or long days of work. The biggest issue I see is that if you’re much shorter than 5’8’’ or so you’re going to be too short for the Large model of this chair. I’m around 5’9” tall and the chair is just about perfect for me. My wife is a few inches shorter and her feet don’t touch the ground on even the lowest setting. It’s also difficult to reach the adjusts under the chair for her.
