The four episodes previewed from this six-episode anthology showcase a range of tones and, many thanks to the in-and-out requirement, the means to draw in fascinating actors. The producing, nonetheless, feels notably weak, making an attempt to inform modest-scale tales that capture culture falling aside when usually focusing on a pair of figures thrown alongside one another in some peculiar way.
After that, these tales provide a combined bag, equally qualitatively and stylistically. Parker Posey and Jillian Bell star in an hour that traps a self-absorbed enterprise operator and her employee in a weird time loop — effortlessly the weakest of the bunch, experience as if it parachuted in from yet yet another universe. It is really as if another person reported zombie stories usually are not overdone more than enough, let’s toss in a lot more overused sci-fi time-bending conceits for fantastic evaluate.
Charitably, “Tales of the Walking Dead” is just yet another way to kindle the flame until the flagship plan commences its closing march in October.
With a planet of stories from which to select, in success it would be uncomplicated adequate for these “Tales” to increase all over again. Still, presented with boundless prospects, this opening salvo serves as an uninspired addition to a franchise whose progeny — each far too generally and rather ironically — have just seemed to mindlessly comply with the crowd.
“Tales of the Going for walks Dead” premieres Aug. 14 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC and AMC+.
