More than 300 active and previous fencers have composed to the Intercontinental Olympic Committee (IOC) urging the organization to uphold sanctions in opposition to Russian and Belarusian athletes, declaring that enabling them entry back into worldwide competitions would be “a catastrophic error.”
“Russia’s aggression violates not only the norms of intercontinental legislation but also the basic values of Olympism, including peace, harmonious improvement of humankind and regard for human dignity and human rights,” the letter reads.
“As prolonged as Russia’s war of aggression, aided by Belarus, wages on, both of those states’ athletes and officials must stay excluded from environment sport.
