CBI files chargesheet towards ex-DC of Gujarat, proprietor of private agency in corruption situation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday submitted a chargesheet against Kankipati Rajesh, former District Collector (DC) of Gujarat’s Surendranagar and Md Rafiq Memon, proprietor of a Surat-based mostly personal agency before an Ahmedabad court.
The company had registered a situation towards the two accused on the allegations that they obtained bribes for the grant of arms licences, allotting govt land and regularising encroached govt land in the title of ineligible beneficiaries.
Before, a preliminary enquiry was registered on the Gujarat government’s ask for. Authorities also done lookups at the premises of the two accused and recovered many incriminating documents and digital evidence.
Throughout the investigation, it was unveiled that an sum of Rs 98,000 was deposited in the proprietor’s account on the directions of the collector. The total was aspect of the bribe demanded by him.

It was also observed that the the proprietor had allegedly forged documents/digital data and also destroyed, deleted/altered the facts on the personal computer that he employed in his store.
