Supreme Court docket verdict on Vijay Mallya’s sentence in contempt case on Monday

The court experienced contemplated whether it could proceed with the sentence hearing in Mallya’s absence. The Amicus Curiae in the case, Senior Advocate Jaideep Gupta, had instructed that the court continue with the circumstance right after offering him a closing opportunity to look.

A plea was submitted by a consortium of banking institutions led by the Condition Financial institution of India ahead of the Supreme Courtroom trying to get contempt motion towards Mallya, alleging that he had transferred USD 40 million to his little ones, therefore violating court docket orders.
The apex court docket thereafter identified him guilty of contempt in 2017. The court experienced, in August 2020, also dismissed his plea trying to find a review of the 2017 verdict and directed him to show up in advance of it.
