REVIEW – We live in a golf cart community. We take our carts everywhere. We bought them a few years ago, but didn’t spring for built-in audio systems. Therefore, our only option for cart tunes is a Bluetooth speaker. Putting them somewhere accessible in a golf cart can be a bit of a challenge. Scosche’s BoomBottle MS seemed like a potential answer to the cart tunes conundrum. Let’s see if it is up to par.

What is it?
Scosche’s BoomBottle MS is a cylindrical Bluetooth speaker. It is designed to fit into a golf cart cupholder, allowing easy access to your tunes while tooling in a cart. It supports TWS pairing with another BoomBottle for true wireless stereo sound.

Design and features
The BoomBottle looks like a typical Bluetooth speaker. It has a cylindrical design with the speaker grill facing out.
Turning it around, we see the controls.
The lower half features the three control buttons, Bluetooth indicator, and charge indicator LEDs.
Pulling the tab reveals the actual buttons, charging port, and auxiliary input port behind the waterproof door. The Vol+/- buttons raise and lower the volume. The MFB, or multifunction button, turns the unit on/off with a long-press. Pressing it controls the play/pause. Double or triple-pressing jumps forward or back one track.
Here’s a closer look at the indicators at the bottom.
Up top, we find a nice addition for the golf course – a bottle opener.
The rubberized bottom has the standard labeling and a tripod socket. The socket allows you to mount the BoomBottle on a tripod. The bottom is also magnetized, allowing you to stick the BoomBottle on any ferromagnetic surface.
A unique feature of the BoomBottle is the MagicMount.
The MagicMount is a magnetic mounting panel designed to allow you to mount your MagSafe iPhone right on top of the BoomBottle. Nice. If you have a MagSafe iPhone. I don’t. What is an Android gut supposed to do?
Lucky for me, I have a case for my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra that adds MagSafe functionality to my phone. But if I didn’t, it wouldn’t matter. Scosche includes their MagicRing mounting system for the non-MagSafe crowd.
The kit includes the magnetic MagicRing with adhesive, a cleaning wipe, and an alignment template that helps to correctly place the ring on a wide variety of phones. That is a nice touch.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
After charging the BoomBottle, I turned it on, and it went into Bluetooth pairing mode right away. My phone found it immediately and paired without any issues. If my phone weren’t already MagSafe, I would have had to place the MagicRing on my phone, too.
Performance
As you can see, the BoomBottle fits nicely in the cupholder of my Yamaha golf cart. The large buttons are easy to manipulate while on the go.
If I want, I can snap my phone onto the MagicMount for easy access.
The magnetic base adheres strongly to any ferromagnetic surface, like iron or steel. This lets you slap a speaker in a variety of places for party music.
The included bottle opener works as designed. I didn’t want one – I had to have one to fully test this for you, our readers. You’re welcome.
So, it looks good, it fits in a golf cart, it attaches to metal walls, and it deftly opens beverages. But, how does it sound? To my ear, good, not great. Bass response is a little light, and both my wife and I simultaneously came up with the term “tinny” as I was blasting some jams. But we have to consider that riding in an open golf cart isn’t what you’d call an audiophile environment, so volume takes precedence over pure audio quality. The BoomBottle has that in spades. The BoomBottle gets seriously loud.
I tried making a call over the BoomBottle. On my end, the call, like the music, sounded a little tinny, but still, it was easy to understand the caller. On their end, they reported that I sounded clear, albeit a little soft. I’d rate call quality as very good.
So, to sum up the BoomBottle as a golf cart speaker, it’s big enough to produce decent sound on the go while remaining small enough to stash in the glove box when parking. I give it a thumbs up.
Final thoughts
As Bluetooth speakers go, this is a decent one. It won’t win any audio awards, but it does produce good sound for an outdoor environment. Its design is where it shines, with large and easy-to-use buttons, a clever magnetic mount for your phone, and a magnet to mount the speaker. The Scosche BoomBottle will find a place in one of our golf carts (we each have our own golf cart).
