Mercury seems to share its orbit with a huge ring of dust tens of millions of kilometres thick, and scientists are not absolutely sure how it got there. None of the mechanisms researchers could think of to reveal it make more than enough dust, and the location of place it passes via is so near to the solar that we would anticipate any dust there to be pulled in by the sun’s gravity practically right away.
