REVIEW – The EPA states (here) that most home heating and cooling systems don’t mechanically provide ventilation from outside. In places where it’s impractical or downright foolish to keep windows open, a filter like SwitchBot’s Air Purifier Table is a breath of fresh air. Let’s have a closer look!

The SwitchBot Air Purifier Table is a motorized electrical appliance with a wireless charger-equipped surface that removes particulates and odors from a room’s climate.

Design and features
Our windows in upstate New York are usually hermetically sealed by mid-October. It gets dry and stuffy, and on the rare occasions that the sunshine graces our sky, I can see motes of dust and kitty hair floating aloft. The Environmental Protection Agency states, “The most effective ways to improve your indoor air are to reduce or remove the sources of pollutants and to ventilate with clean outdoor air” (read the entire article here). I’m not one to succumb to the sneezes, but I can appreciate the value of keeping the crap out of my lungs and was looking forward to having a look at SwitchBot’s Air Purifier Table.
It arrived in Styrofoam-padded comfort.
There were only three pieces, a few screws and a screwdriver.
Assembly took only a few minutes. First, connect the wiring between the base and the tabletop. Next, attach the tabletop to the base. It pivots into place with a sturdy bayonet connector.
I was pleased that SwitchBot has integrated a wireless charger, a great feature I will use frequently.
You’ll need to attach the screws to secure the top. Do yourself a huge favor and magnetize that screwdriver tip before you start. Wiping the screwdriver tip across a strong magnet a few dozen times will hold the screw in place and help prevent the wailing and gnashing of teeth from trying to retrieve it from the fan’s guts.
The power supply is somewhat bulky, rated for an output of 24 volts, 3 Amps.
It plugs into the base of the filter.
Near the top is a small “Aroma Pad” drawer. You can add a few drops of your favorite fragrance to distribute into the air, but be aware that it might affect air quality.
To access the large air filters, remove the door on the back. I love that SwitchBot uses magnets to keep the door fastened.
The large drum filter needs vacuuming once a month and replaced about once per year. I was delighted that the Purifier Table design absorbs floating pet hair and fine particles. The filters fit snugly.
Atop the base are power, mode, fan speed, timers, and child lock buttons. Indicators show Wi-Fi connection, speed, power status, mode, lock, timer duration, and filter life. They are a little cumbersome to access when the Purifier is on the floor, so I’ll most of the time use the app.
The underside of the table sports a spiffy LED light that displays the air quality level. If you prefer, you can choose one of ten colors in the app. I would have liked an RGB LED control to match the other room lighting. Voice control of lighting colors would also be superb.
SwitchBot does an exemplary job integrating the Air Purifier Table into their app, as usual.
Once added, you can monitor the status and air quality. Mode, performance data, schedules, delay, and care and maintenance are also configurable here.
The settings screen includes backlight and sound, child lock, do-not-disturb, wireless charging, Wi-Fi, Third-party services, NFC tags, help and feedback, firmware updates, and device info.
The “Backlight and Sound” page can adjust the light sensor level, brightness, and color.
I love turning the Purifier table on and off using Alexa.
What I like about the SwitchBot Air Purifier Table
- Excellent air filtration and flow
- Simple maintenance
- Very cool lighting
- Built-in wireless charger! Yay!
What needs to be improved?
- It’s not so much an improvement as a feature request: RGB and voice control of the lighting would be awesome.
Final thoughts
I could feel the airflow from the SwitchBot Air Purifier Table from over 10 feet away, and I have no doubt it’s doing a fabulous job scrubbing the crud from my home’s ecosystem. The wireless charger and LED lighting make it as fashionable as it is functional! Thank you, and great work, SwitchBot!
