REVIEW – I’ve been a monitor fanatic since I first saw a Commodore PET computer in the 1980s. I primarily use high-resolution 4K displays for production work. However, I like to check out new tech every now and then, and the Jlink 27″ 165Hz Gaming Monitor was one of those things I just had to check out.
What is it?
The Jlink 27″ 165Hz Gaming Monitor features a 1ms 1440P QHD (2560×1440) display with 106% sRGB color range.

Design and features
I unboxed the Jlink 27″ 165Hz Gaming Monitor and found that I was pretty happy with the design and construction of this monitor. The stand was easy to assemble and mounted over the VESA mounting holes on the back with a simple latching mechanism. VESA mounting holes are something I find a “must have” when it comes to monitors, giving me the ability to change the mount, like mounting it to a wall or arm.
The base is large, stable, and minimal. There’s no flat plate to get in the way of placing items in the middle, something I really like. It also features a cable routing hole, a nice added touch. The base also has a great range of adjustment, raising and lowering (90mm). The monitor also tilts (-5 to 20 degrees), pivots 90 degrees for portrait mode, and swivels 20 degrees so you can position it exactly how you want.
I always check out the connectors first, which often tells me a lot about a monitor. They were organized nicely and labeled with a contrasting color, making them easy to read. The connections are DC power, USB, HDMI, Display Port 1, Display Port 2, and Earphone.
Excellent port layout
Plugging in the monitor revealed some excellent lighting in the back. The lighting is slightly visible from the side also.
Backlight is a nice touch
Featuring a 27-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560×1440 (16:9 aspect ratio), this Jlink monitor is ideal for most gamers at this price point. The jump from HD to QHD delivers 77% more screen space than a standard HD monitor. The 106% sRGB color gamut delivers a stupendous color experience, and the 4000:1 contrast ratio just puts the icing on the cake.
It just looks great while playing games!
The display also has an Anti-Glare coating which really cuts down on glare. Even though glossy screens may produce the appearance of better color, the reflections you get with them are often not worth it (for me, anyway). The VA panel offers an impressively wide viewing angle also. The display also features a very thin bezel on the sides and top, something I always like.
Impressive viewing angle
The 165Hz Rapid refresh rate with 1ms response time ensures that every frame is rendered sharply and smoothly, reducing or eliminating ghosting altogether. Whether gaming or watching a video, you’ll have the highest quality presentation.
THE HDR capability and FreeSync Premium Technology are a welcome touch. The technology ensures reduced blur and a sharper picture and also ensures that the GPU’s refresh rate and the monitor’s refresh rate are synchronized. The monitor is compatible with freesync and g-sync.
I’m not a huge gamer, but the gaming experience was far better with the Jlink monitor than my older HD (1080p) monitor that I had (yes, had, I gave the old one away).
What I like
Excellent stand and ergonomics
Excellent Non-Glare Screen
Great color and performance
What I’d change
Final thoughts
For my first gaming monitor, I’m quite impressed. I really like the non-glare display, and the overall picture quality is excellent. The physical design had everything I look for in a monitor. This was an impressive monitor for this price point.
