New TD Rewards Credit Card Offers for Summer 2023 | News 4 Social

TD has just unveiled the Summer 2023 credit card offers for its suite of TD Rewards credit cards. If you’re looking for TD’s current Aeroplan credit card offers, we’ve covered them in a separate article.

We’ve seen a bit of a dip on most of the TD Rewards cards this time around; however, it’s certainly worth considering the offers to complement your overall credit card portfolio.

The current offers for the below cards are available until September 5, 2023.

TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite: 100,000 TD Rewards Points

The welcome bonus on the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite has dropped down from the all-time high of 135,000 TD Rewards points to 100,000 points. You’ll enjoy an annual fee waiver for the first year, which means you can test drive the card without any out-of-pocket expenses.

To earn the full welcome bonus, you’ll have to meet the following conditions:

  • Earn 20,000 TD Rewards points upon making your first purchase
  • Earn an additional 80,000 TD Rewards points upon spending $5,000 in the first 180 days

If you spread out the spending over the course of six months, it works out to be around $833 per month. This should be a reasonable amount for many households, and you can boost your balance further by targeting the spending in a category with a bonus.

As a reminder, the category earning rates on this card are as follows:

  • 8 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on Expedia for TD
  • 6 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on groceries and dining
  • 4 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on pre-authorized purchases
  • 2 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on all other purchases

It’s worth noting that there’s a $25,000 annual cap for the total amount spent on groceries, dining, and pre-authorized purchases. Once you’ve reached that threshold, the earning rate drops down to the base rate of 2 points per dollar spent.

Some of the card’s other features include:

  • 10% anniversary bonus of TD Rewards points earned over the past 12 months, up to 10,000 points
  • $100 annual TD Travel Credit upon spending $500 on lodging expenses booked with Expedia for TD
  • Strong insurance coverage

If you plan on keeping this card after the first year, consider a TD Unlimited or All-Inclusive chequing account, which will waive the annual fee on one TD credit card of your choice, including the First Class Travel Visa Infinite, on an ongoing basis. Otherwise, the annual fee for this card is $139, beginning in year two.

Supplementary cards cost $50 apiece, and the current first-year fee waiver also applies to the first supplementary cardholder.

The Visa Infinite card requires either $60,000 in annual personal income, or $100,000 in annual household income, to qualify.

TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card

  • Earn 20,000 TD Rewards points after making your first purchase
  • Earn 80,000 TD Rewards points upon spending $5,000 in the first 180 days
  • And, earn up to 10,000 TD Rewards points back on your birthday
  • Plus, earn 8x TD Rewards points on travel purchases when you book through Expedia for TD
  • Use your rewards for any travel bookings available on Expedia for TD
  • Minimum income: $60,000 personal or $100,000 household
  • Annual fee: $0 for the first year, then $139

TD Platinum Travel Visa Card: 50,000 TD Rewards Points

The welcome bonus on the TD Platinum Travel Visa Card is unchanged this time around, and remains steady at 50,000 TD Rewards points with a first-year annual fee waiver.

The breakdown of the welcome bonus is as follows:

  • Earn 15,000 TD Rewards points upon making your first purchase
  • Earn an additional 35,000 TD Rewards points upon spending $1,000 in the first 90 days

Aside from the welcome bonus, you’ll enjoy the following earning rates with the TD Platinum Travel Visa Card:

  • 6 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on Expedia for TD
  • 4.5 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on groceries and dining
  • 3 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on pre-authorized purchases
  • 1.5 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on all other purchases

As you can see, the earning rates are a step down from those on the TD First Class Travel Visa Card; however, if you don’t qualify for the higher-tier card, then you can still get a decent return on spending in any of the boosted categories.

There’s a $15,000 annual cap for the total amount spent on groceries, dining, and pre-authorized purchases, before rewards on spending drop to the base rate.

Beginning in the second year, the annual fee is $89, and can be easily waived by the same methods outlined above for the Visa Infinite card.

There’s no minimum income requirement to apply for this card.

TD Platinum Travel Visa Card

  • Earn 15,000 TD Rewards points upon first purchase
  • Earn 35,000 TD Rewards points upon spending $1,000 in the first 90 days
  • Plus, earn 6x TD Rewards points on travel purchases when you book through Expedia for TD
  • Earn 4.5x TD Rewards points on grocery and recurring bill payments
  • Use your rewards for any travel bookings available on Expedia for TD
  • No minimum income requirement
  • Annual fee: $0 for the first year, then $89

TD Rewards Visa Card: 19,697 TD Rewards Points

The TD Rewards Visa Card is TD’s entry-level offering, and comes without an annual fee.

The welcome bonus has increased this time around, and you’ll earn 19,967 TD Rewards points. All you need to do is keep the account open and in good standing for 90 days to maximize the offer.

For a credit card with no annual fee, the earning rates are actually quite competitive:

  • 4 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on Expedia for TD
  • 3 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on groceries and dining
  • 2 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on pre-authorized purchases
  • 1 TD Rewards point per dollar spent on all other purchases

There’s a $5,000 annual cap for the total amount spent on groceries, dining, and pre-authorized purchases, before rewards on spending drop to the base rate.

This is surely one of the more competitive options amongst Canada’s best no-fee credit cards.

There’s no minimum income requirement for this card.

  • Earn 10,000 19,697 TD Rewards points upon keeping your account open for 90 days
  • Plus, earn 4x TD Rewards points on travel purchases when you book through Expedia for TD
  • Use your rewards for any travel bookings available on Expedia for TD
  • Annual fee: $0

TD Business Travel Visa Card: 140,000 TD Rewards Points

Turning our attention to the sole business credit card on this list, the TD Business Travel Visa Card has slightly dropped its offer down from 150,000 points to 140,000 TD Rewards points. The current offer is broken down as follows:

  • Earn 30,000 TD Rewards points upon making your first purchase
  • Earn an additional 70,000 TD Rewards points upon spending $5,000 in the first three months
  • Earn an additional 20,000 TD Rewards points upon setting up a new recurring bill payment, up to a maximum of two

While the value of the minimum spending requirement is the same as the one on the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, you’ll only have three months to meet it.

The first-year annual fee rebate counts towards the primary cardholder, which is otherwise $149, and up to two supplementary cardholders, which typically cost $49 each.

The earning rates on the TD Business Travel Visa Card are as follows:

  • 9 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on Expedia for TD online
  • 6 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on dining, pre-authorized purchases, and foreign transactions
  • 2 TD Rewards points per dollar spent on all other purchases

It’s relatively easy to get approved for business credit cards with TD as a sole proprietor. If you’re interested, try setting up an appointment with a representative at a branch for the smoothest experience.

TD Business Travel Visa Card

  • Earn 30,000 TD Rewards points upon first purchase
  • Plus, earn 70,000 TD Rewards points upon spending $5,000 in the first 3 months
  • Earn an additional 20,000 TD Rewards points upon setting up a new recurring bill payment, up to a maximum of two
  • Earn 9x TD Rewards points on travel purchases when you book through Expedia for TD
  • And, earn 6x TD Rewards points on restaurants, recurring bill payments, and foreign transactions
  • Use your rewards for any travel bookings available on Expedia for TD
  • Qualify for the card as a sole proprietor (business registration may be necessary)
  • Annual fee: $149 ($0 in the first year)

Conclusion

TD often puts out competitive welcome bonuses on its suite of credit cards, and this time around, there are some great ways to boost your TD Rewards balance without any minimum monthly spending requirements.

While these aren’t the highest offers we’ve seen across the board, the offers are still quite competitive. TD Rewards points are a great secondary points currency to use for some aspects of travel, such as independent hotels, cruises, and vacation packages, that are otherwise difficult to book with points.

Be sure to apply for these offers by September 5, 2023.
