Both Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have increased the cost of their prepaid contracts from 20% to 25%. Since November 25, when new Vi concepts were introduced, Airtel’s pricing have increased. The cheapest recharges currently cost Rs 99 and have a 28-day validity for both Vi and Airtel.
Both Airtel and Vi have stated that they are raising their prices in order to boost their average revenue per user (ARPU) and help the sector deal with its current financial woes. For popular normal options, Airtel consumers would need to pay a minimum of Rs. 50 more, while alternatives with 56 and 84 times of validity, respectively, will cost them a minimum of Rs. 479 and Rs. 455. Additionally, the cost of best-up ideas has been reduced. The Rs. 48 pricing has been increased to Rs. 58, the Rs. 98 recharge has increased to Rs. 118, and the Rs. 251 top-up now starts at Rs. 301.
